I received a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2012. I hold a BS in Psychology from Fayetteville State University (1998). During my masters program I provided individual and group counseling services to the developmental, physically and mentally disabled adults through the Department of Health and Human Services, Vocational Rehabilitation Services. I am currently licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (License Number: 10248) in North Carolina. I have five years experiences as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and over twenty five years experiences in the field of mental health. I work with children, adolescents, adults, military and geriatrics with trauma, behavioral and relationship problems. My approach to counseling is from an eclectic viewpoint; however the main theoretical approaches that will be used are (CBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy and Family Systems Therapy. These models are client and family centered and covers all ages and stages of life. The clients and families may have the following symptoms/behaviors include but are not limited to; depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. Modalities of therapy used include; a combination of Reality Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Cognitive behavior therapy examines the relationship between thinking, feeling, and behavior and helps the client restructure thinking errors in more ways that are constructive. When using Solution Focused Therapy, the importance is placed on a positive focus on the present and future. Family Systems Therapy may be used to help the family understand patterns and to strengthen boundaries.
